Clinical Significance

Cortisol is increased in Cushing's Disease and decreased in Addison's Disease (adrenal insufficiency).

Test Prep: Collection must be between 7am -9am. Do not take this test when taking prednisone /prednisolone therapy due to cross reactivity with the antibody used in this test.
